Dutch Push Hoe
Forged carbon steel push hoe, 5 inch blade sharpened on the leading edge, 60 inch ash handle, 2.6 pounds.
Description
A push hoe for cutting weeds just below the surface while you walk backward along the row. The 5 inch blade is forged carbon steel with an open frame so soil passes through, sharpened on the leading edge and set at an angle that keeps the blade flat when the handle is held at hip height. The ash handle is 60 inches long; overall weight 2.6 pounds.
Keep the edge keen with a few strokes of a flat file every couple of weeks in the growing season. Hoe on a dry morning so cut weeds wither rather than re-root. Oil the steel before storage.
